Darrel Thomas Bergstrom, 75, peacefully passed away surrounded by family and loved ones July 7 at Adventist Health hospital in Tehachapi.
Services will be officiated by his brother Craig Robert Bergstrom at Bakersfield National Cemetery, Arvin, California.
Darrel was the son of Robert Jay Bergstrom and Mildred Geneva Hoime. He was born in Devil's Lake, North Dakota, Feb. 23, 1948. Darrel married Jeri Denise Bergstrom (Kilpatrick) on Oct. 20, 1972. They had a son, Eric Andrew Bergstrom in 1972. Darrel was in the United States Army from March 1968 to October 1969. He served in Vietnam and was awarded the Purple Heart. He worked for many years as an HVAC technician and supervisor in Broomfield, Colorado.
Darrel's hobbies centered around his love for Volkswagens and drag racing. He and his wife Jeri formed IceBerg Racing and ran the Rocky Mountain Air Cooled VW Club. They traveled all across the southwest, making friends at all the different car shows and racing events. Darrel recently moved to Tehachapi to enjoy retirement near his brothers.
Darrel is survived by his son Eric and brothers Timothy and Craig. He is preceded in death by his brother Michael and his beloved wife Jeri.
