What's Up in Bear Valley Springs?

July 8, 2023

It has been a cool spring and summer, so far, but is heating up in July. The pool is in full swing with the swim team, water aerobics, swimming lessons for the little ones and casual swim during the afternoons. Check the Whiting Center for upcoming classes and sign-ups.

The Bear Valley Springs Cultural Arts Association has a concert in the park at Cub Lake on Saturday, July 29. The concert begins at 3 p.m., and goes to 5 p.m. Bring a lawn chair and some munchies for yourself. The group is Fistful Of Nickels, a local group, who plays mainly rock and country music. All are welcome. The concert is free, but donations are welcome.

By the time you read this, Independence Day with all its celebrations will have taken place. Bear Valley Springs enjoyed our hot air balloons and parade, plus the vendor booths at Cub lake.

The Waterwise Garden at the corner of Bear Valley Road and Lower Valley at the CSD parking lot is looking very well cared for, these days. A dedicated crew of gardeners have been weeding, planting and spreading mulch on the gardens and gravel on the walks. Drop by for a relaxing experience. The garden hosts several benches and chairs to just sit and relax, and take it all in. July 1 was the grand re-opening and ribbon cutting. The garden was envisioned and started many years ago by Lea Prentice, and this garden is dedicated to her. The purpose is to help people figure out good, native, water-wise plants, plus plants that encourage butterflies and bees to keep up the bio-diversity of our environment. The plants are labeled for identification.

Bear Valley Springs is a private gated community in which the residents pay an annual association amenities fee. To visit, a non-member or non-resident must arrange with a friend or family member in the community for a guest pass that would permit them to engage in the activities. Guest passes will be checked.
