During the week of June 20-23 TVRPD hosted the Cal Breeze Club Basketball team at Aspen Builders Community Center. Local basketball mom and team coach Shyla Dock organized a shooting clinic with BriAnna Garza of Shooters Shoot Training to work with high school and middle school players.
Attending the clinic were three varsity players from Tehachapi High School as well as students from Oxnard, Moorpark, Valencia and the Bay Area. Middle School students would be included in a four day clinic the following week to prepare them for high school basketball.
Dock said she took her daughter to one of Garza's clinics in Arizona and was convinced that one was needed in Tehachapi. Garza travels most of the year and has been on the road for the last 405 days teaching clinics. Dock said that she has already scheduled Garza to return to Tehachapi next year.
BriAnna Garza has a Master of Science degree in Sport and Performance Psychology with an emphasis on skill acquisition. She also has a Masters of Education degree in Instructional Design and Human Performance Technology. Her mentorship program focuses on shot and thought development.
