Road construction season begins

The Pinon Street Extension Project is under way and will be completed by mid-summer.
Pinon Street will soon connect Dennison Road to the east to Curry Street to the west. The project will add alternate transportation routes to the local schools, and hopefully alleviated some traffic backups during peak travel hours. The new roadway will also cut down on dust due to the volume of vehicles that have driven across the dirt road.
The cost of the construction project was estimated at $902,000 and is funded by a grant through Congestion Mitigation Air Quality (CMAQ). The project is being built by Griffith Construction.
There are 10 infrastructure projects scheduled to take place in the City of Tehachapi now that the weather is cooperating. Projects should be completed by fall of this year.
