Tehachapi's Online Community News & Entertainment Guide
The Outreach Committee of the Tehachapi Valley Healthcare District will be undertaking several new projects in the near future, said new Healthcare District CEO Peggy Mendiburu and Manager Lisa Hughes.
A new Little Free Library is planned for placement in front of the district office at 116 W. D St. An old doll house is being refurbished to be used to house the books. Like other free libraries, books may be borrowed if a book is left behind for others to read.
A new community garden is being planned in partnership with the Village Tehachapi Community Garden currently being developed at 101 E. H St. The new garden will be located on the north side of the alley between Green and Curry. The land is owned by TVHD which is now collecting bids to fence the garden in an effort to protect not just the garden but the adjoining physical therapy building that is also owned by the healthcare district.
Next up for TVHD is a blood drive with Houchin Blood Bank to be held at the Vineyard Church on March 22 and a Youth Symposium with the Tehachapi Rotary Cub on May 20. Stay tuned for more information on these events and others. In the discussion stage is a mental health walk for October along the Antelope Run trail.
