Josephina "Josie" Flores Borg.

Josephina "Josie" Flores Borg, beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother passed away on Dec. 22, 2022, in Tehachapi. She was born on Aug. 8, 1952, in Corona, California. She was one of seven children born to Lydia Moncivais and Guadalupe Jose Flores.

She grew up in her hometown of Corona, where she met Frank Salazar. They had two daughters, Jennifer and Priscilla, and with the love and support of her mother, sisters and brother, she was able to raise them in a safe and loving environment with many cousins.

Josie was a part of the disco music movement in the 1970s and was known to her friends and family as the "Disco Queen." It was around that time that she met and later married Steve Borg. Together, they had a daughter, Shaina, in Riverside, California. They moved to Tehachapi in 1986, where they continued raising the girls. Josie spent many years as a stay-at-home mother and wife, as well as holding various jobs at Thrifty, Video Zone, Stallion Springs Country Club and the Sears Catalog Store.

In the following years, they would make their home in Bakersfield, California. Josie worked in the gift-wrapping department at the local Gottschalk's Department store until they closed their doors for good. She is remembered as being very happy there.

For the last 12 years of Josie's life, she lived in San Diego, California. Although she did not like to leave the comforts of her home, her daughters, Priscilla and Shaina were always nearby for an occasional outing with her. Some of Josie's hobbies included: listening to political opinions and commentary on her iPad, especially those pertaining to her favorite former President, Donald Trump; watching true crime shows and watching Ghost Adventures on Travel Channel.

Josie is survived by her daughters, Jennifer Allen, Priscilla Grubbs and Shaina Borg; her grandchildren, Taylor Podratz, Tyson Grubbs, Logan Allen, Chloe Grubbs, Jordyn Allen, and Zoey Hill; her great-grandchildren, Kova Podratz and Leo Podratz; and her sisters, Esther Avalos, and Linda Wade. Additionally, she leaves behind many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Lydia, and Jose; her sisters, Bertha Lewis, and Martha Trujillo; and her brother, Jesus "Jesse" Flores.
