The primary item addressed at the Jan. 9 Planning Commission meeting was planned new construction by Tehachapi Liquor. Owner Albeir Rechied and Jennifer Duke of Duke Engineering applied for preliminary approval of the architectural design and site plan of a new 5,416 square feet retail building to be located 20 feet from the current Tehachapi Liquor location. The address of the new building will be 838 Tucker Rd. and will include three tenants with the majority of the space dedicated to Tehachapi Liquor who will relocate. Construction on that pad was originally approved in 1990 with the original plan for the Tehachapi Marketplace Shopping Center on the southeast corner of Tucker Rd. and Tehachapi Blvd.

Development Services Director Jay Schlosser told the Planning Commission that the Sage Ranch project presented Planning with their Precise Development Plan packet on time and is still an active project. The Address, a development planned for the corner of Tucker Rd. and Highline, officially withdrew their plan on Jan. 9, 2023 citing the downturn of the economy and changes in the building codes that were effective Jan. 1.

The Tehachapi Planning Commission meets on the second Monday of the month at 6 p.m. at the Tehachapi Police Department Community Room located at 220 W. C St.
