Hale Grover celebrates 100th birthday

Surrounded by friends and family, Tehachapi resident Hale Grover celebrated his 100th birthday on Dec. 7 with a huge party at Jake's Steakhouse. According to Jake's owner, Barbara Ferrante, Grover and his family had booked the back room months ago in anticipation of the event. Grover's son Jeff and his wife Kathy came from Arizona to host the affair. According to Jeff, Hale had finally given up playing golf about a year ago and had just been able to renew his driver's license for another five years. Hale has been a Tehachapi resident for 33 years.
