On Oct. 24, Kaedin Marsalis Duncan Averrios Smith, 14, was killed while riding his bicycle on Tucker Road. The tragic accident has led to several fundraising efforts to support his family.

Red House BBQ is opening their doors and their hearts for a fundraiser on Sunday, Oct. 30.

"This tragic loss has our whole community saddened," Mano Lujan, owner of Red House BBQ, said in a Facebook post.

Red House BBQ will hold a tri-tip barbecue in the parking lot of The Shed at 333 E. Tehachapi Blvd., from 11 a.m. until sold out.

"Albertsons has very generously donated all of the tri-tip," Lujan said in his Facebook post. "We are really trying for volume on this fundraiser so, instead of me grilling it out in front, we will be smoking the trip so that we can prepare a very large amount all at the same time and really speed up the line."

Smoked tri-tip sandwiches, along with a bag of chips and soda or bottle of water, will sell for $15. All profits will benefit Kaedin's family. A bucket will also be available for cash donations. Red House BBQ will be set up for both cash and credit card payments for food.

"Let's all do what we can to help this family out ... we take care of our own here," Mano said in his post.

Funeral arrangements for Kaedin are pending, but will be handled by Wood Family Funeral Service. A GoFundMe page has also been set up to support the family at tinyurl.com/bde7tktd.
