What's Up in Stallion Springs?

All of Stallion Springs is gearing up for the 11th Annual Oktoberfest to be held at the Community Center on Saturday, Oct. 1. The Community Center is located at 27800 Stallion Springs Dr. Stallion Springs Parks and Recreation is looking for vendors. If you are interested in having a booth, contact Shawnee at (661) 822-3268 ext. 222. Spaces will be available until Sept. 9. Sponsorships are still available until Sept. 10.

Pool update

With apologies, the Stallion Springs CSD has announced that, due to staffing issues, the last day for the pool to be open will be Monday, Sept. 5. Labor Day weekend hours will be noon to 6 p.m. Saturday, Sunday and Monday. Residents who previously purchased open swim pool passes will be honored next year.

Water conservation

California residential communities are on a Level 2 Water Shortage plan and that includes Stallion Springs. The Level II Water Shortage plan asks for a 20% cut back in water usage. The CSD is recommending:

1. Addresses ending in odd numbers: water Mon., Wed., Fri. Addresses ending in even numbers: water Tues., Thurs., Sat. No watering on Sunday.

2. Outdoor watering is prohibited from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

3. No hosing down of non-landscaped or hardscaped areas.

4. Washing vehicles will only be allowed in car washes or by using a bucket and hose with an automatic shut-off nozzle for rinsing.

Fishing reminder

There is a fine for fishing without a permit. 48-hour permits are available at the Stallion Springs General Store or the CSD for $10. Yearly permits are available ONLY at the District Office. Remember there is no fishing from the bridge or on or near the dam.

CERT

Stallion Springs Community Emergency Response Team will hold their monthly meeting on Wednesday, Sept. 7 at 6:30 p.m. at the Stallion Springs CSD, 27800 Stallion Springs Dr. The 20-hour CERT Basic Training course will be held on Oct. 19, 22, 29 and Nov. 5. The course covers basic disaster response skills. It is free and will certify participants to be part of SSCERT or for personal preparedness.

Police

The Stallion Springs Police Department is dispatched through the Kern County Sheriff’s Office. If you have a life-threatening emergency, call 911. For non-threatening issues call (661) 861-3110 or use the contact on the CSD website http://www.stallionspringscsd.com. If you wish to make an appointment to speak to an officer, contact the CSD at (661) 822-3268 but be aware that, due to limited staffing, appointments may be canceled. Residents are encouraged to sign up for Nixle public notification alerts and to create a Smart911 profile. These communication systems are free to everyone.

Stallion Springs CSD Board of Directors meetings

The CSD board meets on the third Tuesday of every month at 6 p.m. in the CSD Boardroom. The next meeting is scheduled to be on Sept. 20.
