Tehachapi Arts Center

July 9, 2022

Another Tehachapi Arts Center Paint Night is coming up on July 16 (every third Saturday of the month) from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m.

The Sculpting Basic Hand Building class with Lucinda Thomas continues each Saturday from 10 a.m. to noon in July. Students will learn to sculpt with various techniques to create 3D artwork. The cost is $12.

Every Wednesday from 3 to 5 p.m. is the Children’s Art Class taught by Grayson. In addition, private classes for parties or groups can be arranged with Grayson.

And don’t forget, the Tehachapi Arts Center has Open Studio time from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. Come in and work on your own project, or just socialize.

Other upcoming events are Jam Sessions for aspiring musicians, where beginning and intermediate musicians can learn to play with other musicians. You should know a few songs, but there’s no requirement to be good. There will also an Writer’s Workshop to be hosted by established author Lauraine Snelling. Keep in mind that another Improv Class, to be led by Susan and Jonathan Hall, will be coming up in August.

The Tehachapi Arts Center continues to look for artists and crafters interested in teaching others what they know. Sharing what you love with others and making a few dollars, you can’t beat that.

And for anyone needing jewelry work done, from repairs, battery changes or getting a one-of-a-kind piece of jewelry, come see Mike of Alari Design which is in the back of the Tehachapi Arts Center. It is open Monday-Friday, noon to 5 p.m., or by appointment. Call or text (661) 805-0849 for more information.

The Tehachapi Arts Center is a cooperative, continuing the heritage of Mel White’s Treasure Trove providing a venue for local artisans to gather, learn, teach and, of course, display and sell their art. We are located at 116 E. Tehachapi Blvd. (across the street from the water tower). Open Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., call (661) 822-6794.
