Police Week recognized by City Council

City of Tehachapi

On May 16, the Tehachapi City Council proclaimed May 15-21 as National Police Week in Tehachapi. Mayor Phil Smith presented Tehachapi Police Chief Kent Kroeger and members of the Tehachapi Police Department with the proclamation at the beginning of the council meeting that night. Mayor Smith expressed his deepest thanks to the law enforcement community and our Tehachapi Police Officers.

Chief Kroeger accepted the proclamation on behalf of all men and women who serve and protect their communities every day.

National Police Week occurs every May and has been a time to not only recognize and thank current law enforcement officers but a time to remember and honor officers who have died in the line of duty in the past year and years past. National Police Week was originally proclaimed by President John F. Kennedy in 1962.

"It is such an honor to see how hard our Tehachapi Police Officers work for this community. I say thank you to all who have sworn an oath and put on a uniform to serve and protect. Again, thank you," said Greg Garrett, Tehachapi city manager.
