Everyone has questions before visiting the chiropractor. Here are easy answers to some of the most asked questions.

Q: Does Chiropractic care hurt and is it safe?

A: Chiropractic is the largest, non-invasive, drug-less and safest forms of health care available. Statistically, patient risk is substantially lower when receiving chiropractic care as opposed to medical care, where the use of prescription drugs and surgery pose a greater risk. Chiropractic adjustment is a highly controlled procedure that rarely causes discomfort because minimal force and gentle pressure are used. In fact, most patients feel relief immediately following treatment.

Q: What is that "popping" noise? Are you cracking my bones?

A: The popping sounds you will hear is the fluid within the joint moving around. A chiropractic adjustment does not affect the bones of either side of the joint, but rather the connective tissue that holds the joint together. It also stimulates the motion and direction sensing nerve endings around the joint, causing postural changes.

Q: Will I be sore following a chiropractic adjustment?

A: Not usually. Most patients are sore when they get here. Often there is a pain hangover in one area as it recovers, and a little soreness in another as it wakes up and gets to work again. I use a variety of techniques to ensure safety, comfort and effective adjustments.

Q: What do I wear to a chiropractor appointment?

Read Past Issues of The Loop Newspaper, Online!

A: Wear something comfortable and easy to move in! While athletic wear is a common choice, it's not required. When possible, avoid extra layers, skirts, dresses and heels.

Q: Is Chiropractic treatment safe during pregnancy?

A: Yes! Gentle chiropractic treatment including joint mobilization, soft tissue treatment and therapeutic exercise is safe and effective during pregnancy. Doctors of chiropractic are trained to address the challenges of the pregnant body including loosening ligaments and increased weight.

Q: How often will I need treatment during my pregnancy?

A: A treatment plan will be individually tailored for your specific condition and depends on your week of pregnancy. Treatment recommendations range from 2-3 times per week to once a month.
