What's Up in Bear Valley Springs?
February 19, 2022
February is here, the groundhog has forecast six more weeks of winter, so let’s settle in and enjoy the relaxed pace.
One of the immediate issues is getting new candidates for the BVSA Board. Three positions will be open for competition. You likely have already been mailed application forms if you wish to apply. The board is always looking for capable candidates for director positions. Sandy Williams, Jim McCormack, or Bob Tebbe can give you information on the duties, or you can call the association office at (661) 821-5537, ext. 231.
The Oak Tree Men’s Golf Club recently held elections for a new board. Mark Poindexter is the new president, Tony Miszklevitz is the vice president, Jack Saranpa is the treasurer, Richard Poole is the handicap chair, along with board members Kevin Maher, Vic Keesey, and RT Martin. Congratulations to all on your new positions.
This month’s CSD board meeting was held February 10 via Zoom. It included approval of hiring the new police chief and the $30,000 contract purchase of a new truck for the wastewater treatment facility. The purchase of seven new body cameras and seven new body-equipped tasers was also approved for $66,779.96.
The BVS CSD launched a new community engagement platform called The Bear Valley Exchange. One of their worthy goals is to develop sustained collaboration between the CSD and the community. Sign-up is simple and requires answering a few questions about yourself. The site host is EngagementHQ.
Starting Friday, February 18, the BVS Garden Club will open the new season with a whole new board. The club meets on the third Friday of each month at the Equestrian Center, February through October and offers many great programs and tours. The cost is only $10 per season.
Bear Valley Springs is a private gated community in which the residents pay an annual association amenities fee. To visit, a non-member or non-resident must arrange with a friend or family member in the community for a guest pass that would permit them to engage in the activities. Guest passes will be checked.
