Tehachapi Rotarians are ready to collect for the local senior food drive.
The City of Tehachapi is happy to announce we will be assisting the Rotary Club of Tehachapi with their Twelve Days of Christmas food drive for local senior citizens in need again this year.
Tehachapi City Hall is one of multiple drop-off sites for non-perishable food items through December 14. In 2020 the Tehachapi community donated enough food to provide more than 100 boxes filled with the items from the list to each senior.
"We are so blessed to have a group like our Rotarians who are reaching out to our senior community. It just makes me feel warm inside to see a sincere need being filled with love and compassion during the holiday season," said Christina Scrivner, Tehachapi city councilmember.
The Rotary Club has created a 12-day plan to make it easy for people who want to donate what they can. They have provided a list of 24 food items, two items each day ("12 days of Christmas") that they would like to put in each box that will be distributed to a senior in Tehachapi. The list can be found on this page.
Food items can be dropped off Monday through Thursday, 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. at Tehachapi City Hall, 115 S. Robinson St., Tehachapi.
Alternate drop-off sites include The Loop newspaper, 206 S. Green St., and the Tehachapi News, 411 N. Mill St.

In addition to the senior food drive, the City of Tehachapi is also a drop-off site for new unwrapped toys for Toys for Tots through December 9.

December 2: Stuffing Mix and Boxed Potatoes
December 3: Macaroni and Cheese and Canned Mixed Fruit
December 4: Canned Tomatoes and Canned Tuna
December 5: Dessert Mix and Jar of Applesauce
December 6: Canned Sweet Potatoes and Cranberry Sauce
December 7: Canned Beans and Box of Crackers
December 8: Package of Rice and Package of Oatmeal
December 9: Package of Pasta and Marinara Sauce
December 10: Chicken Noodle Soup and Tomato Soup
December 11: Canned Corn and Canned Mixed Vegetables
December 12: Canned Carrots and Canned Green Beans
