Senior Center serves Tehachapi

Tehachapi Senior Center

July 17, 2021

The Tehachapi Senior Activities Center greeted the community with a soft opening on July 12.  The Senior Center provides a safe and secure space where elders can share in nutritious meals, exercise and social activities with other seniors.

In order for all the members to feel safe when they enter the center, President Lewis Brown has established guidelines and restrictions to ensure the comfort of everyone.

The exercise room will have a maximum of 15 COVID-vaccinated people at a time.  Non-COVID-vaccinated people with a mask will exercise in the big room on the south side. Vaccinated card players will play on the north side in the big room and non-vaccinated players with a mask will play on the south side.  Brown has also added sanitizer dispensers on the walls to keep the spread of germs down.

To participate in activities at the center you must be a paid up member.  Yearly membership dues are $25.

The center is located at 500 East F Street, Tehachapi, and is open Monday through Friday 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.  Office hours are Monday through Thursday 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Lunch is served daily between 11 a.m. and noon, weekdays.  You can eat in the big room, on the patio or take it home.

Line dancers meet on Mondays from 1 to 3 p.m. Wood carvers meet on Tuesdays from 1 to 3 p.m. and card players meet Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m.

There is always something fun and exciting going on. For more information you can call the center at (661) 822-5412.
