St. Jude's British Afternoon Tea fundraiser

A British Afternoon Tea was held May 22 at St. Jude's in the Mountains Anglican Church in Tehachapi. Afternoon tea was introduced in Britain in the early 1840s. It evolved as a mini meal to stem the hunger and anticipation of an evening meal at 8 p.m.

At the St. Jude's Afternoon Tea, various types of tea were served from lovely teapots and the typical afternoon tea menu of dainty sandwiches (usually cut delicately into "fingers"), scones with clotted cream and jam, sweet pastries and cakes were served on china plates. It was a lovely, fun afternoon with bingo, door prizes and a silent auction. The Tea was a fundraiser for the St. Jude Building Fund, the purpose of which is to purchase the church campus which is currently leased.
