Keep Tehachapi litter free

June 5, 2021

CalTrans has recently had roadside trash picked up along Highway 202 from the four-way stop at Cummings Valley Road to Tucker Road. This was a big project, as the amount of litter was considerable, particularly in the area of Old Town. I was embarrassed to think that visitors to our area were seeing the pride of Tehachapi – NOT! To demonstrate our pride in the Greater Tehachapi area, we should encourage every organization in this area to adopt a section of Highway 202 to keep litter free. I hate to think of the many months and the amount of trash which will accumulate before the government next sends out a crew, as the unsightly stuff is already accumulating again. We residents, not the government entity, should take care of our own trash! Join a group or church to Adopt A Highway. [Editor’s note: To find out more information on Adopt A Highway visit dot.ca.gov/programs/maintenance/adopt-a-highway.]
