Nadine Gayle Hessing.

It is with sadness we announce that Nadine Gayle Hessing, 95, died February 23.

Nadine was a resident of Tehachapi for 41 years. She loved Tehachapi and only left when she could no longer live alone. She moved to Tacoma, Washington, to live with her daughter, Toni Morrill, in 2018.

Nadine was born in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, but lived in Iowa and Texas before her family moved to San Diego, California in 1939. Her husband, William Hessing, loved Tehachapi also and together they decided to move to Tehachapi in 1974. They briefly lived in Texas from 1980-82 after her husband had a stroke. She cared for her husband for 34 years. An amazing and loving feat for one older woman.

Nadine was involved with the Tehachapi Community Theatre for many years.

She also was a writer of poetry and a fine gardener. She planted over 100 trees on her property through the years and numerous flowers each year. She enjoyed working with the Friends of the Library for several years and meeting the "girls" for lunch each month as long as she lived in Tehachapi.

She had an amazing sense of humor, loved to dance and loved life. She took every chance she had to tell anyone about the Great Depression and World War II. She didn't want anyone to forget that period of history.

Her mother and father, Vera and Ray Clark, her two brothers, Maurice and Eugene, her sister, Verelyn, her son, Mario Montes, and her husband, William, preceded her in death. She is survived by her daughter, Toni, five grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, one niece, three nephews and numerous friends in Tehachapi and Washington.

A loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, wife and all-around great, friendly woman!
