What's Up in Bear Valley Springs?

October 10, 2020

We have been plagued with smoke recently from the tragic fires taking place all over California. Heartfelt sympathy to all those facing tragedy and the loss of their homes.

The water aerobics class has come to an end for the summer, but some determined individuals are going to continue in the pool through the fall and winter. They have been attending in-service training at the pool, so as to be familiar with taking the cover off and on, and safety rules.

The Garden Club has one more meeting on the third Friday of October at 11 a.m. This will be a crafty class in which attendees will be making garden labels and bird feeders. Club President, Clare Scotti, has set up a visit to Moessner Farms on Saturday, October 17 at 10 a.m. The cost will be $10. Bear Valley residents: check e-Buzz for a contact to make a reservation.

The Bear Valley Springs veterans Association held a flag ceremony on September 11 at the Flag Center, Cub Lake, to commemorate the first responders who sacrificed their lives that drastic day.

They also held a ceremony for member Todd Lander at his book signing on September 27 at Dorner Winery. Mr. Lander’s book is about his tour in Vietnam from 1968-69, and is entitled “Bound For War: A Memoir of Love, Friendship, and Survival.” A three round gunfire salute showed respect to those who did not return from war. The event was well attended by many members of the community. Mr. Lander has been a long-time member of the BVS Association Board and is well known for his service there and for being an active golfer over the years.

Stay safe, all of you, and wear your mask indoor at businesses. It’s more fair to those on the front lines.

Bear Valley Springs is a private gated community in which the residents pay an annual association amenities fee. To participate in the above events, a non-member or non-resident must arrange with a friend or family member in the community for a guest pass that would permit them to engage in the activities. Guest passes will be checked.
