What's Up in Stallion Springs?

Gary Crowell was sworn in as Stallion Springs Police Chief at the February 19 CSD Board meeting. Crowell was sworn in by CSD Board President Ed Gordon. His wife Saralee placed the stars, indicating the highest ranking officer, on his lapel followed by his father Gary Crowell Sr. placing the Chiefs Badge on his chest.

Crowell has been with the Stallion Springs Police Department for 14 years and has been a sergeant on the force for six years. Prior to coming to Stallion Springs, Crowell worked with the California Highway Patrol. Crowell is looking to expand the force with additional full- and part-time officers and reestablishing and expanding the Community Service Unit. Stepping in to the position, Crowell said, "I'm lucky to have a very supportive community with a low crime rate."

Ready, Set, Jump

The Ninth Annual Chilly Dip is returning on March 2 at 11 a.m. Jumpers can sign up at the CSD. After Feb. 25, signups are $18. Sign up, Jump in, Get Warm.

Open Gym

Our gymnasium is open free-of-charge for youth and adults Monday and Wednesday, 3 to 6 p.m. and Friday 4 to 8 p.m. We offer a fun place to hang out and drop-in with activities such as volleyball, basketball and pickup games. Please note: All open gym hours are subject to change without notice. Participants must observe all local facility rules and have a waiver signed by a parent or guardian. Waivers can be found online at: http://www.stallionspringscsd.com or in the gym office. Pickleball co-ed pickup games, Tuesday and Thursday 6 to 8 p.m.

Trained to Save

Interested in a great summer job or challenging career as a professional lifeguard? Through videos, group discussion and hands-on practice, you'll learn teamwork, rescue and surveillance skills, first aid and CPR/AED and other skills you need to work as a professional lifeguard. Successful completion results in a 2-year certification in lifeguarding that includes first aid, professional level CPR and AED in one certificate. A digital certificate will be available upon successful completion of course. Stallion Springs Parks & Recreation will be hiring for Summer Lifeguard positions beginning in May 2019. This certification course must be complete prior to employment. Spring Class 1: March 9 and 10. Spring Class 2: May 4 and 5. Location: Dye Natatorium pool, 400-B South Snyder. Police Report

Police Chief Gary Crowell filed a report of statistics for January 2019. The Department had three arrests, issued five citations, had 64 reports, 78 calls for service, did 33 want and warrant checks, completed 52 officer initiated investigations, did 23 field interviews and performed five medical assists. There were 31 vacation house checks and 22 school bus stop checks. Additionally the Department assisted other law enforcement agencies 10 times.

Brush Blush

Join us for a fun night of stress-free fun and a non-intimidating way to create wooden masterpieces for your homes, offices, gifts, etc. You will end the night with a wood sign that you will be proud of saying, "I created that!" It's the same fun and creative experience as our Easel Events, except now you're working with wood to design your own sign from scratch. Once you choose your sign, you will choose your background color and your paint colors, as well! We will walk you step-by-step through this creative process. All supplies are provided. Event held March 22 in the Corral at 7 p.m.

Fitness classes

Fitness classes are offered Tuesdays and Thursdays for all levels. Come try your first class for free. You can take advantage of the three month special of $5 each or you can pay $30 monthly for unlimited classes.

CERT

The CERT Basic Class will be offered in our community Spring of 2019. Please invite family, friends and neighbors to enroll in this training. 

The class schedule is: Wednesday, March 13 from 5 to 9 p.m. for orientation, Saturday, March 16, 23 and 30 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Stallion Springs Board of Directors

The Board meets on the third Tuesday of every month. The next meeting will be on Tuesday, March 19 at 6 p.m. in the CSD Board Room.
