Donated flags and a wreath were placed at the foot of the Central Park's War Memorial monument at the 2017 Veterans Day celebration in Philip Marx Central Park.

As the Bear Valley Springs veterans groups will be celebrating veterans Day on Nov. 11, the Tehachapi veterans groups along with Tehachapi Valley Recreation and Park District will be holding their annual veterans Day celebration in Philip Marx Central Park on Monday, Nov. 12.

American Legion Post 221, American Legion Auxiliary Unit 221 and American Legion Riders Chapter 221 will host ceremonies beginning at 10 a.m. with guest speakers and a performance by the Jacobsen Middle School Chorus. A parachutist will jump out of an aircraft over the event and the flag will be raised.

TVRPD has planned a fun family afternoon following the ceremonies. They will host a Kids Bootcamp Obstacle Course. The military-style course will include ladder runs, rope crawls and wall climbs. The kids will all receive dog tags when they complete the course. Local veterans will be on hand to assist the kids in reaching their goals. There will be booths from all branches of the military with a unique activity at each and a display of military vehicles from Edwards Air Force Base.
