Tehachapi Treasure Trove

First Friday Fun Fest

October's featured artist Betsy Hannan at work.

October 3, Friday evening from 5 to 8 p.m., Tehachapi Treasure Trove will again celebrate our First Friday Fun Fest. You're invited to come see our ever changing displays full of art, crafts, collectables and art supplies. Please join us for fun, refreshments, art, and a chance to visit with Betsy Hannan, our featured artist for October. Music will be provided by Art Larsen on clarinet.

Betsy began her crafting work on quilts and graduated from there to life size dolls for toddlers. While her children were young she helped to teach every imaginable type of craft for school, church, etc. Twenty-two years ago her children gifted her a scroll saw and belt sander, and she started playing with wood. All of her raw materials are recycled.

Betsy has painted with watercolor and oils and studied stained glass, but prefers acrylic on wood. In addition she creates wreaths from pinecones and cloth, gift envelopes from cans, purses from cigar boxes and a variety of other fun and unique stuff. She also knits. Check out the pumpkins she makes from mason jar lids. Betsy loves what she does. She finds it fun and relaxing especially after a busy day with her grandson.

Betsy was born in Brooklyn and grew up in northern New Jersey. She married her husband while he was in the Navy. He was stationed in California and, after he was discharged they chose to remain in California. They raised four daughters and now have five grandchildren. Thirteen years ago they moved to Tehachapi from La Crescenta to be near family. Betsy now makes her home in Bear Valley and has displayed her work at the Cultural Arts Fair.

Everyone is invited to the Treasure Trove on Friday, October 3 from 5 to 8 p.m. for our First Friday event. Come have a glass of champagne or wine, a bite to eat, say hello to Betsy and join the fun!

Tehachapi Treasure Trove is located at 116 E Tehachapi Boulevard, right across the street from the water tower in Railroad Park.

Hours are daily 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. (Sundays 11 to 4). For additional information on any of our activities, classes and events, please call us at (661) 822-6794 or visit http://www.facebook.com/Tehachapi Treasure Trove .
