TVRPD Announces Removal of Out of District Fees For All of Our Programs

It is with great excitement that the Tehachapi Valley Recreation and Park District announces the removal of out of district fees for all of our programs. Following the de-annexation of Bear Valley Springs and Stallion Springs, the Tehachapi Valley Recreation and Park District elected to assess an out of district fee for all non-residents, specifically those in Stallion Springs and Bear Valley Springs. This fee, in the amount of $15, was meant to off-set the loss of tax revenue resulting from the de-annexation. After thorough evaluation by TVRPD administration it has been concluded that fees collected were not substantial enough to warrant continued collection nor effective in marketing TVRPD’s mission to foster a vibrant, united community that gets out and plays together.

Since being hired as the Recreation Supervisor at TVRPD, it has been my goal to develop and promote inclusive recreation, excellent programming and top-notch customer service to the greater Tehachapi Community. By dissolving the out of district fee, we can effectively remove existing and potential participation barriers and expand our reach to those outside our district thereby increasing accessibility to our parks and programs and better aligning with our fellow public, private and community partners missions to strengthen the Tehachapi Community.

To the Stallion Springs and Bear Valley Springs residents, we welcome you to our programs and hope you will take full advantage of the outstanding youth and adult sports and youth programming we offer year round. We are a dedicated Recreation and Park District whose mission is to enrich lives and foster harmony within the community through area-wide leisure services targeted to improve healthy life styles, educational and recreational opportunities, public participation, and environmental and economic stewardship.

In removing the out of district fee we now have a greater opportunity to strengthen existing partnerships and expand valuable recreational resources together.
