Fun Day for Kid's Day at the Tehachapi Museum – May 17

Tehachapi Heritage League

Three girls, dressed in vintage summer outfits, visit the Errea House Museum and learn about how children lived in the 1900 to 1930 era.

To celebrate National Museum Day, the Tehachapi Heritage League is sponsoring "Kid's Day at the Museum."

This free event will be held on May 17 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Tehachapi Museum and the Errea House Museum at 300 S. Green St.

All the Tehachapi Museums will be open so that area children can learn about Tehachapi's history and see historical items from the past.

Activities for children of all ages will be ongoing with prizes awarded for various contests.

Many service groups will be on hand including the Tehachapi Library, Guide Dogs for the Blind, Kern County Sheriffs Department, Scouts, Tehachapi Valley Recreation and Park District and others.

There will be demonstrations of woodcarving, origami, robotics, skateboarding, badge-making and more.

Some of the contests for kids of all ages include: hula hoop, basketball hoops, beanbag toss, panning for gold and scavenger hunts.

There will be several antique vehicles on display and our storyteller, Bob Reynolds, will be reading stories for the younger children in the Errea Garden.

The kids can prepare freshly popped corn.

Bring the family and don't miss the fun.

Down the street, the Railroad Museum at the Depot will also be open, so while you are in the historic downtown area, stop by the Depot on the corner of Green Street and Tehachapi Boulevard.

For more information, call the Tehachapi Museum at 661-822-8152.
