This will be a busy summer for TVGMS! We will have a booth at several Tehachapi events: Tehachapi Chili Cook-Off on June 20th, Bear Valley Springs 4th of July celebration at Cub Lake, and TVGMS’s Gem and Mineral Show during Mountain Festival August 22nd and 23rd at St. Malachy’s Church. The booths will have activities, wonderful displays and sales, and information about our club.
Spin the wheel for $1 or $5 – everyone’s a winner of a lapidary item - a polished rock, a fossilized sharks tooth, a tiny bottle of gold, a piece of petrified wood, etc!
Buy a raffle ticket (only $1) for a gorgeous citrine cathedral! This showcase piece is about 2 feet tall, weighs nearly 90 pounds, and is valued at approximately $500! This lovely, amber-colored natural crystalline structure will be displayed and raffle tickets will be sold at 4th of July and Mountain Festival. The winning ticket will be drawn on Sunday August 23rd, 2015 at 3 p.m. during the TVGMS Gem and Mineral Show. You need not be present to win.
TVGMS is a non-profit organization of rockhounds interested in lapidary studies such as rocks, fossils, and jewelry making. Our group sponsors an annual scholarship for a local high school senior. This year we wish to congratulate Wyatt Newman on receiving the TVGMS scholarship.
Our next meeting is Thursday July 2nd, 2015 at 7 p.m. Meetings are held the 1st Thursday of each month at 7 p.m. at St. Malachy’s Catholic Church Youth Center Building. 407 W. “E” St. (Corner of Mill and “E”)
