Hospital Week murals.

During the fist two weeks of May, Adventist Health in Kern County celebrated Nurses Week and Hospital Week in a big way. They commissioned Bakersfield muralist Jennifer Williams-Cordova to design two different paint-by-number murals for each of their three hospitals, Bakersfield, Delano and Tehachapi Valley.

The theme for the Nurses Week (May 3-7) murals was "Thank you for giving HOPE" and Williams-Cordova was on hand at each hospital to guide the nurses in the actual painting. The murals at Bakersfield and Delano were painted on an outside wall while at Tehachapi Valley the murals were painted on canvases to be displayed inside the hospital. Although painting at AHTV began on the patio outside the cafeteria, the canvases had to be completed inside due to the wind.

The theme for Hospital Week (May 10-14) was "Thank you for choosing HOPE" and Williams-Cordova was again on hand to direct the painting. Painting at AHTV was on Thursday, May 13 and again outside the cafeteria. In addition to the beautiful pieces to be displayed at each hospital, it was hoped there would be an art therapy element for all who worked on the pieces following the challenging last year.
