Let the tourism season begin!

People are itching to get out of the house and enjoy the warm weather and freedom that relaxed health restrictions now provide. It's wildflower time and while precipitation rates are below last year's Super Bloom level, there are still opportunities to enjoy California poppies, lupin, Indian paint brush, yellow fiddlenecks and pink filaree.

Whether driving through the Antelope Valley, day-tripping to Carrizo Plain or driving around Tehachapi, wine tasting is the perfect way to cap off a lovely, spring day. Day trippers, armed with binoculars and cameras, will enjoy relaxing in the tasting rooms of our local Tehachapi vineyards. Owners are waiting with open arms to welcome everyone. Some COVID restrictions still apply, but tasting rooms and outdoor areas are available and provide social distancing compliancy.

Tasting rooms

Several tasting rooms provide dining options with meals prepared by local chefs and food trucks. Picnic (BYO) options are also available for outdoor dining during the afternoon with purchase of wine by the glass or bottle. Live music is also a frequent accoutrement at some tasting rooms. Check individual websites for dinner reservations, schedules and details.

Wildflowers and wine

Would-be horticulturists will also enjoy observing the vines as the growing season and bud break are upon us. Tehachapi Wine Growers are anxious to celebrate the new Tehachapi Mountains AVA, the arrival of spring and welcome both out-of-towners and local friends to their vineyards. Come out and celebrate.
