What's Up in Bear Valley Springs?

January 2, 2021

The holiday season is fast upon us, and the community is alight with decorated homes. It will feel like a different season than last year, because of the virus, but if folks hang tight, we can beat this thing.

The Community Services District has seated its new members, John Grace and Charles Jensen. It has also picked its new roster of officers for 2021. Greg Hahn is now the president of the Board, and Steve Roberts will serve as vice president. President Hahn and VP Roberts, along with Director Terry Quinn, have two years left in their terms. The new directors will serve for four years.

A neighbor off Jacaranda, near Bear Valley Road, reported an incident involving a mother bear and three cubs who have been visiting their yard. Unfortunately, the dogs of a guest chased the cubs up a tree. Mother bear, being who mother bears are, attacked the dogs, and one came out badly. It was an expensive veterinary bill, but the dog will survive. The other dog had minimal injuries.

The community dealt with a PSPS two days before Christmas. The CSD had received a grant to purchase generators to pump water up to neighbors who were cut off completely during previous power shutdowns. The generators are in the process of being connected, but, regrettably, not quite in time for our most recent shutoff. Having spoken to friends who were bereft of water in previous shut-offs, I inquired whether they were now getting service. No, they still had no water. Hopefully our power shut-offs will cease for this season, and give the CSD time to hook up those generators.

Here’s wishing everybody a much better 2021, and good health into the New Year.

Bear Valley Springs is a private gated community in which the residents pay an annual association amenities fee. To participate in the above events, a non-member or non-resident must arrange with a friend or family member in the community for a guest pass that would permit them to engage in the activities. Guest passes will be checked.
