Meet the Stallion Springs Police Officers

The Stallion Springs Police Department held a Community Informational meeting on Thursday, June 18. Chief Gary Crowell introduced the full time officers to the group: Officer James Bernard, Chief Gary Crowell, Sergeant Michael Bonsness and Officer Cody Hash. Hash is the newest officer to join the department starting with the SSPD in February 2020. These officers are part of a professional team that is one of the most respected law enforcement agencies in Kern County. Through their competent and courteous service, they strive daily, "to enhance the quality of life" for the residents and guests of Stallion Springs.

In addition to introduction of the officers, Chief Crowell, spoke about various topics including golf carts and low speed vehicle laws, emergency preparation for disasters, Southern California Public Safety Shutoffs and local COVID-19 updates.

November Election

There are three four-year and one two-year positions on the Board of Directors coming up for reelection in November. The following steps are required if you are still interested in serving on our Board. 

Declaration of Candidacy forms will be available from July 13 until 5 p.m. Aug. 7 at the Elections office by appointment, or by email request to: candidatefiling@kerncounty.com

Candidates wishing to submit a candidate's statement, of no more than 200 words, for printing and distribution to the voters, must submit such statement for filing at the same time the Declaration of Candidacy is filed. The statement must be prepared on a form supplied by the Elections Division.

The provisions of Elections Code Section 13307 provide for payment of the estimated cost of printing and handling the statement at the time of filing the Declaration of Candidacy, unless the District has elected to cover the costs.

Estimated candidate statement costs shown for cities, schools and special districts are based on the election method (i.e. at large or by trustee area) and district boundaries in place at the time the estimate was prepared. Subsequent changes to election method or boundaries may change the cost of the candidate statement.

Watch out

Watch out for bears and mountain lions this summer. A few have been sighted recently in the areas of Buckskin, Mustang and Buckpasser.

Fishing

A Stallion Springs Fishing Permit is required at all times to fish in the lake. Fishing without a permit will result in a fine. There are 48-hour permits available at the General Store or the CSD for $10. Yearly permits are available at the CSD office only.

Neighborhood Watch

Meetings are on the fourth Tuesday of the month at 6:30 p.m. The next meeting is scheduled for July 28 in the Corral Room, subject to COVID-19 restrictions

Stallion Springs Board of Directors

The Board meets on the third Tuesday of every month at 6 p.m. normally in the CSD boardroom. The July 21 meeting will be held in the CSD boardroom or at the Community Center subject to the restrictions created by COVID-19.
