Oktoberfest

Get ready for Oktoberfest, Oct. 6, at the Community Center from noon to 6 p.m. Plan to arrive early and stay late. Beer, wine and sodas will be flowing generously and expect a line for bratwurst. Attendance is expected to be larger than last year's 3,500 people over the six hours. There are fun activities planned for kids on the playground. Inside the Community Center, vendors will be busy selling their wares. SSCERT will assist with parking and other assignments from the SSPD.

Parks and Recreation

The Family Fun at the 5K Color Fun Run was held Saturday, Sept. 8. Fifty six runners made the 5K trek around the course. Leaving the starting line dressed in white and finishing splashed with color. Participants walked, ran and even pushed strollers around the course.

Mathew Finch finished first in 25 minutes, 31 seconds. The first stroller across the line was father and son Mike and Michael Westwood.

Stallion Springs Road Construction Project

The road contract is nearing the finish line. Change orders have been made to address some road repairs.

CERT

Stallion Springs CERT has a busy few months ahead.

• Saturday, Sept. 22, Houchin Blood Drive. 

• Wednesday, Oct. 3, monthly training in the Stallion EOC / 6:30 p.m.

• Training with Stallion Police Department including traffic control and parking.

• Review assignments for the Saturday, Oct. 6, Oktoberfest. If you are available to deploy for Oktoberfest and have not signed-up, please let Sandy know.

• Saturday, Oct. 6, Oktoberfest at the Stallion Springs Community Center, noon to 6 p.m.

• Wednesday, Nov. 7, monthly training in the Stallion EOC at 6:30 p.m. The meeting will act as a debriefing of Gran Fondo and Stallion Oktoberfest. 

Police Report

If you have a life threatening emergency call 911. The Stallion Springs Police Department is dispatched through the Kern County Sheriff's Office.

For non-life threatening issues, please call (661) 861-3110. You may contact us by email or using the contact information provided on the CSD website, http://www.stallionspringscsd.com. If you wish to make an appointment to speak with an officer contact the CSD at (661) 822-3268. Appointments maybe canceled at any time due to limited police staffing.

Cleanup day

Cleanup day is Saturday, Sept. 29 from 9 to 1 p.m.  It's time to clean up around your home and bring your large, bulky items to Stallion Springs CSD parking lot for easy disposal and recycling.  Bulky waste drop-off and a bin will be available for offsite shredding.

Bulky item pick-up for senior and disabled adults, please call by Wednesday, Sept. 26, to be placed on the pick-up list.

We will not accept: household hazardous waste, construction waste, asphalt, concrete, tires, fluorescent tubes or light bulbs.

Neighborhood Watch

The next meeting of Neighborhood Watch is scheduled for Tuesday, Sept. 25 at 6:30 p.m. in the CSD Board Room.

Golf Course

Dan Pacheco, a potential buyer for the golf course, indicates he is still in negotiations with Dan Neveau but nothing has been finalized yet.

Community Church Harvest Party

A Harvest Party will be held on Oct. 20 at the Stallion Springs Community Church, 18151 St Andrews Dr., Tehachapi. Games for all ages and vendors will be selling their wares. Food will also be available. Come, bring friends, meet other members of the community for an afternoon of fun.

Stallion Springs Board of Directors

The Board meets on the third Tuesday of every month. The next meeting will be on Tuesday, Sept. 18 at 6 p.m. in the CSD Board Room.
