Neon 'John-John' could end up in your yard

A neon toilet – pressed into service as a fundraising tool for the Tehachapi Parks Foundation – will soon appear mysteriously on local front yards. Residents will be obliged to make a contribution to have it removed and relocated to another front yard. Happily, the resident can say whose yard the toilet will go to next.

Craig Janssen announced the campaign at the May 6, 2015 meeting of the Greater Tehachapi Economic Development Council at The Shed restaurant, promptly producing $100 to start the toilet’s journey to the front lawn of City Councilman Ed Grimes.

Paul Benz followed up with a $100 donation if Grimes would pose for a photo on the john (pictured right) and if it were published in a local newspaper. [Editor’s note: We at The Loop were more than happy to help with this request.]

The funds will build a bathroom at West Park, put in a new gym floor at West Park Activity Center, and upgrade Ollie Mountain Skate Park, West Park and the Activity Center.

If you discover the “John-John” in your front yard, you know you have been specially selected by someone you know. The recommended donation to have the toilet removed and relocated is $25. For $50, you can have it removed, relocated and no tag backs. A hundred dollars will keep the thing away from your front yard (AKA “Do not dump”). To make a donation and/or have the “John-John” removed, call Director Samantha Waldeck at (661) 222-7984.
