What's Up in Bear Valley Springs?

March 18, 2023

On Thursday, March 9, a packed house greeted the CSD Board at the monthly meeting.

General Manager Bill Malinen surprised the gathering with an announcement of his pending retirement. It will be difficult to find another general manager with credentials to meet his.

In public comments several members of the public took some members of the Board to task for social media, shall we say, “indiscretions.” Those bringing the issue forth received good support from the crowd.

The main task in front of the Board that evening was to pick committee members for the Finance Committee, Infrastructure Committee, Administration Committee and Public Safety Committee. After some back and forth, and different people being accepted or rejected, these committees were appointed with three appointees per committee. The Board members expressed their gratitude for the enthusiastic volunteer response. A veteran community member, Jim Nelson, came back to us and was appointed to serve on the Public Safety committee. Nelson has a long-standing and honorable record, having led CERT for years and the Public Safety Committee, too.

The BVSA will meet, as usual on the fourth Tuesday of the month with the next meeting on March 28.

And, if you are into fishing, but need some guidelines, the Whiting Center has a seminar on April 15 at 9 a.m. It’s a three-hour seminar, led by Fred Hicks, and he will cover how to select the right rod and reel, tackle selection, fish handling and release, and participant questions. Space is limited to 12 participants, so, if you are interested, sign up now at bvsa.recdesk.com.

Meanwhile, stay dry and safe!

Bear Valley Springs is a private gated community in which the residents pay an annual association amenities fee. To visit, a non-member or non-resident must arrange with a friend or family member in the community for a guest pass that would permit them to engage in the activities. Guest passes will be checked.
