Michael Lynn Bates passed away on Feb. 20 at the age of 64. He passed peacefully at home with his wife, daughter, sons and grandchildren by his side.

He lived in Tehachapi for more than 40 years with his wife, Evelyn; kids, Christopher Hill, Johnathan Bates, Corie Bates, Samantha Bates, Raymond Bates; and grandchildren, Hunter Bates, Cameron Thowson, Shawn Bates, Makenzie Bates; and the additions to the family, Alex, Chase, Randy, Rachel, Jerimiah, Josh, Ryan, Julie, Larissa, and Sean and kids.

He was born in Caraway, Arkansas on Dec. 10, 1958. His parents were Elmer Leroy Bates and Giva Parker.

He moved to California with his family, working in the fields until he became a truck driver. He went to school to be a brake specialist.

He loved hunting, fishing, camping, working on cars and in the yard. When he wasn't working, he would spend time with the grandkids and family, always joking.
