NovelTeas Book and Tea Club of Tehachapi has been meeting for seven years. We began reading Laura Childs’ Tea Shop Mysteries. We met in members’ homes for tea parties, pairing our teas with the titles of the books we read each month ... a series of 20 books. We’ve had enjoyable times hosting and socializing. We even had a tea party interpreting the main characters in Childs’ mysteries.
Then, we decided to take a “tour around the world” with author Nelson DeMille’s novels. We’ve read 14 of his novels and paired our epicurean delights with the geographical setting of each novel, and met at local restaurants that served a pairing cuisine.
We usually meet on the third Friday of each month at 1 p.m. at a local restaurant for lunch. We discuss our current read, select our next month’s read and enjoy one another’s friendships, maintaining respect, cordiality and no personal confrontations. Members enjoy historical fiction and mysteries.
In 2023 we are accepting new members, men and women over 18 years old, who enjoy reading, tea and socializing.
On Friday, Jan. 20, 2023 we will enjoy a “Meet and Greet” for new members at Henry’s Cafe, 550 Tucker Rd., Tehachapi at 12:30 p.m. We hope to see you there.
