Brining your turkey for a moist, flavorful holiday meal
November 19, 2022
A Taste of Tehachapi is offering a way to make cooking your big holiday meal a little easier, and a lot more tasty.
A Taste of Tehachapi will be selling a brining kit for $15 at Dorner Vineyard’s German Market on Dec. 3 and 4.
Brining your turkey in a mixture of fruits, herbs and spices helps lock in natural moisture, infuses savory flavor, reduces cooking time and creates a juicy, tender turkey.
How to brine a turkey (up to 14 lbs.)
1.) Combine contents of the Taste of Tehachapi kit with one gallon of boiling water.
2.) Cool brine thoroughly and refrigerate until chilled.
3.) Place fresh turkey, chilled brine and an additional gallon of water into a large container or plastic bag. Completely submerge the turkey.
4.) Keep refrigerated or on ice in a large cooler for 12-24 hours.
5.) Rinse turkey with cold water, pat dry and cook as desired.
If you’d like to give the brining kit a try, visit A Taste of Tehachapi at the Dorner Family Vineyard German Market on Dec. 3 and 4 at 18274 Old Ranch Rd. in Tehachapi. Or you can call Diana Wade with A Taste of Tehachapi at (661) 557-2589 to order.
