Artist of the month and newest member: Edward Vasqkedi

Our newest co-op member and artist of the month for September is Edward Vasqkedi. A resident of Tehachapi for over 30 years and a lifelong artist, he made his living as a product designer. Vasqkedi brings a unique talent in oil, acrylic and watercolor. His painting style ranges from impressionism, expressionism, abstract and realism. His favorite is impressionism in oils on canvas. A former collage drafting instructor, Vasqkedi will be teaching classes in painting and drawing in the coming months. As well as during our September paint night.

Paint Night

Saturday, Sept. 17 our own Edward Vasqkedi will lead our Paint Night. We will provide all the materials, hor d'oeuvers, wine and nonalcoholic beverages. TK's Pizza is usually on the menu, as well.

Children's Art Class every Wednesday from 3:30 to 5 p.m. Private classes for birthdays or your own group of friends are available. Call Grayson for availability.

Aspiring Musicians

Our Tuesday night Jam Sessions are becoming popular. The next one is Tuesday, Sept. 13. Set up is between 5 and 5:30 p.m. We usually play for two or three hours. We are looking for beginning/intermediate musicians who would like to learn to play with others. You should have the ability to play a few songs, but you don't have to be very good. And please bring a song or two that we can all play together. We have a few instruments you can use or bring your own. Call Mark at the center for more details at (661) 822-6794.

Alari Design

Our jewelry store continues to be busy. Replacing watch batteries, resizing rings, repairing all types of jewelry and creating new one-of-a-kind pieces of art. All accomplished right here on the premises. Mike's Jeweler hours are noon to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, or by appointment. Call or text (661) 805-0849 for more information.

The Tehachapi Arts Center is a cooperative, continuing the heritage of Mel White's Treasure Trove providing a venue for local artisans to gather, learn, teach and, of course, display and sell their art. We are located at 116 E. Tehachapi Blvd. (across the street from the water tower). Open Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., call (661) 822-6794.
