Tehachapi Arts Center

May 14, 2022

New artists

The Center is happy to introduce our newest artists. Basianna K. who creates colorful surrealistic paintings in acrylics, and our new soap lady Helen Brennick. Helen a newer Tehachapi resident, crafts soap that is gentle and healthy for your skin using goat milk and an olive oil-based soap for our vegan customers.

Classes and events

Our Beginning Polymer Clay Class on May 14 is filled up but you can sign up for the same class on June 11. Cathy Clark will teach the basics of working with this material as you craft a glassware container decorated with beautiful flowers and leaves. A useful and eye-catching piece of art.

Also on May 14, our Improv Workshop continues. We all had a great time last month as we participated in easy fun exercises to learn how to interact in this spontaneous undertaking. Its fun, friendly and interesting. No experience necessary, so don’t be shy.

On May 21, Lauraine Snelling is offering her Writing Great Fiction Class. Lauraine, a published author, will show you how to compose compelling works of literature.

Paint Night is also on May 21 with our upcoming June Guest Artist Wendy Johnson. She has created this month’s work in her own unique style. As always snacks, drinks and all supplies will be provided. There will be wine as well as other beverages.

Our Children’s Art Class is at 3:30 p.m. every Wednesday.

The Loop Digital Network

You can have an artistic birthday party for your own group of artists. Just call the center to plan your event and reserve a date.

Lucinda’s Sculpting Class has become very popular with lots of interesting projects being created by the participants. Held every Saturday morning from 10 a.m. to noon. The medium is clay. The instructor will provides clay and a clay sculpting kit for a reasonable fee if you do not have your own.

Aspiring musicians

We are looking for beginning/intermediate musicians for jam sessions. This is a learning experience for not so good musicians to learn how to improve their abilities and blend in with other players in a group setting.

You should have the ability to play a few songs and not be a total beginner. Call Mark at the center for more details.
