What's Up in Bear Valley Springs?

April 16, 2022

The Todd Lander Pavilion at the Mulligan Room is open for business!

On Saturday, April 2, a crowd of approximately 80 people gathered to commemorate the opening of the newly finished patio, and to memorialize the longest-standing BVSA board director in Bear Valley Springs’ history, Charles (Todd) Lander. Sadly, we lost Todd last August to cancer, but for the many years he served Bear Valley he was instrumental in coming up with ideas to save the association money on various projects. The building of the new patio was just one of them.

The BVSA General Manager, Wesley Shryock, spoke of how Todd mentored many, and gave him emotional support when he first took on the position. After Todd’s wife, Sandy unveiled the plaque, titled Bound By Love, in memory of Todd Lander’s book, “Bound by War,” she took the podium and thanked the BVSA board of directors and staff, as well as the community for honoring him. She stressed how much Todd loved serving Bear Valley Springs as a BVSA Director.

A generous lunch was provided for the crowd, and disc jockey, Peter de’Armond provided the upbeat background music, which was enjoyed by all.

Earth Day is coming up, with community clean-up on April 23. The BVS Horseman’s Association sponsors it. Meet at the Equestrian Center at 9 a.m. Remember gloves, water, hat and picker-uppers, if you have them.

The Bear Valley Springs Garden Club is in full swing for the season. They meet the third Friday of each month from February through October at the Equestrian Center at 1 p.m. Every meeting offers a program to help you with gardening, plant selection, critter control (including snakes), and garden tours, too. E-Buzz carries the announcements of the program of the month.
