2022 Fishing Derby cancelled

Tehachapi Valley Recreation & Park District

March 19, 2022

Tehachapi Valley Recreation and Park District regrets to announce the cancellation of the 2022 Annual Brite Lake Fishing Derby. TVRPD had planned to hold the event this spring. The event was originally pushed back from April to May due to the water allocation levels.

Since January, staff has been aggressively reaching out to several hatcheries across the state and have been unable to secure an adequate amount of worthy sized fish sufficient enough for a derby. TVRPD has high expectations for our events. We do not want to host an event knowing that it will not have the quality it deserves to be a success; we know how important and sought after this event is for the fishing community. We are determined to bring this event back in 2023.

TVRPD will be hosting two days this year where Brite Lake will be stocked and day use parking will be waived. One date will be coming this spring and will be announced as soon as fish are secured. The second date will be released later in the year.
