Lifeguards needed

Tehachapi Valley Recreation & Park District

March 5, 2022

Tehachapi Valley Recreation and Park District is in desperate need of lifeguards for the upcoming pool season.

The Pool season is slated to open the first week of April, however, at this time TVRPD only has one returning guard able to work. TVRPD needs a minimum of 10 guards in order to open the pool with a limited schedule.

There is a lifeguard training course set for March 17-19 for anyone wishing to become a certified lifeguard and work for TVRPD. You must be at least 15 years old at the time of the certification class in order to take the course.

For more information on the lifeguard certification course, please visit http://www.tvrpd.org . If TVRPD is unable to obtain at least 10 guards by these March dates, we will be unable to open the pool until a later date. We have a second certification class scheduled for May 12-14 and would attempt to open the pool in June for the summer months.

The pool if/when it opens would run through the Labor Day weekend. Lifeguards make $16 per hour and will have the opportunity to continue employment with TVRPD in other recreations areas during the non-pool season.
