Classes at Tehachapi Arts Center

February 5, 2022

Tehachapi Arts Center continues to bring classes, paint night and more to our community. We’re excited to again participate in First Friday. For those unfamiliar, First Friday is where local art galleries and stores in the downtown area open their doors after normal business hours beginning at 5 p.m. on the First Friday of every month. Most offer food, drink and a tad of wine. We’re open till 8 p.m., so come on by.

Leila Kleimen will be conducting her much anticipated Beginning Glass Fusion class on Feb. 12 from 1 to 4 p.m. She will show you how to cut and arrange beautiful pieces of glass, then fire them in her kiln producing your own work of art. This is a prerequisite to Leila’s advanced class in March. Cathy Clark will show you how to make butterflies and dragonflies from tin and polymer clay on Feb. 19 from 1 to 4 p.m. You can make one of each or two of the same species of magnet art. Paint Night is also on Feb. 19 with Lucinda Thomas from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. She will guide you in the crafting of your own masterpiece. Snacks, drinks and all supplies provided. Children’s art class has been moved to 3:30 p.m. every Wednesday so that students can more easily attend. We are looking for local artists and craftspeople to join us in teaching and bringing art to our community.

The Tehachapi Arts Center is a cooperative continuing the heritage of Mel White’s Treasure Trove, providing a venue for local artisans to gather, learn, teach and, of course, display and sell their art.
