A fun new opportunity awaits. The Bear Valley Community Service District has been updating Bear Valley’s street signs to make them more reflective and safe. They started at the gate, working their way westward and upward. The old signs will be up for auction. If you want a piece of Bear Valley Springs history, you will have an opportunity to bid on the signs from your community. The proceeds of the auction will go to the road fund to speed up the purchase of new signs. To bid, go to http://www.govdeals.com/BearValleyCSD. Be advised that some signs are antique looking, while others may show no age at all.

The CSD crew has been busy with public work updates. New center lines were painted on Lower Valley Road, Pinedale Drive, Jamaica Dunes Drive, Rolling Oak Drive, Greenwater Drive and Fawn Way. The mail station at Lower Valley Road and Skyline Drive has been renovated. The next station to be renovated will be at Lakeview Drive and Gosset Way. On November 11, the BVS veterans Association sponsored the annual veterans Day Memorial service at the veterans Memorial, Cub Lake. Almost 50 people gathered on the beautiful afternoon. The service was opened by recent Honor Flight participant Bill Kritlow. Commander Martin Hernandez offered a tribute to Jon Reppert, who has done so much for our local vets, and mentioned Jon’s father, Jack Reppert, who also served.

Five honorees have reported to their final duty station. Robert Newell was the first honoree. A rose was presented by John Pruden to Carol Newell. Charles (Todd) Lander was inducted, and a rose presented to Sandy Lander. Al Dameron was next, with a rose presented to Sandy Dameron. Lee Dante and Wayne Moulder were also inducted, but family members were unable to attend.

Mentioned in the written program were our Gold Star families of Sgt. Adam Zanutto, and Sgt. Earl Victor Sigmund.

After the induction, James Carmichael and Travis Combs played Amazing Grace on their bagpipes. A three-volley gun salute by the Honor Guard, and Taps by Richard Oldenburg completed the service.

Bear Valley Springs is a private gated community in which the residents pay an annual association amenities fee. To visit, a non-member or non-resident must arrange with a friend or family member in the community for a guest pass that would permit them to engage in the activities. Guest passes will be checked.
