J.R. Kendrick, Life Scout with Troop 3 of Tehachapi, is in the process of obtaining his Eagle rank, which is the highest rank attainable in Scouts.

Only about 4 percent of Scouts reach this achievement. He recently completed his Eagle Scout project at the Stallion Springs Community Center. As a Scout he has been volunteering at community events such as Mountain Festival, in local parades with his fellow Scouts and at the Stallion Springs Library. He has just finished his second year at Cerro Coso Community College, where he is pursuing a degree in Cyber Security. He has lived in Stallion Springs for 6 and a half years and is proud to be a productive member of our amazing community.

His project involved having concrete poured around the outside of the play structure/sand area at the Stallion Springs Community Center to correct a current tripping hazard, and installed four attractive, weather-resistant benches on the concrete to provide much-needed seating to the area. He raised money toward the cost of this project, and wants to thank Eaton Construction and AMA Homes, who helped him achieve this goal.

Oktoberfest

The 16th annual Oktoberfest is back and scheduled for Oct. 2 at the Community Center from noon to 5 p.m. Come by for food, beer, wine, gifts and kids activities. No pets are allowed except trained service animals.

Parks and rec

Stallion Springs Parks and Rec is partnering with the Stallion Springs Community Church for Teen Thursdays. Open to all teens 13 and up every Thursday from 4 to 6 p.m. Play volleyball and other activities at the Community Center. Teens will be required to have a signed waver prior to participation. The snack bar will be open. Come join in the fun.

Dance is returning in October. Beginning on Tuesday, Oct. 5, for a 10-week session. The classes will include ballet, tap, jazz and clogging. Contact the CSD for further information.

Free pickle ball in the gym on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 6 p.m. and Saturdays at 9 a.m. All levels are welcome.

Open gym, Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 3 to 6 p.m.

Stallion Springs Board of Directors

The Board meets on the third Tuesday of every month at 6 p.m. normally in the CSD Boardroom. The next meeting will be held September 21.
