Order requires school staff verify vaccination or partake in weekly testing

A State Public Health Officer Order was issued today that requires verification of vaccination status among public and private K-12 school workers. Unvaccinated or incompletely vaccinated school workers are required to undergo diagnostic screening testing weekly. Today’s, August 8 Order follows several other recent State-issued Public Health Orders.
Specifically, on August 5, 2021, the State issued a Public Health Order requiring workers in healthcare settings to have received their final dose of the COVID-19 vaccine by September 30, 2021. There are two exemptions to the requirements of the Order; religious and medical. Additionally, on August 5, 2021, the State issued a Public Health Order requiring visitors at hospitals, skilled nursing facilities, and intermediate care facilities to be fully vaccinated or show proof of a negative COVID-19 test. Furthermore, on July 26, 2021, the State issued a Public Health Order requiring workers in healthcare, long-term care, and high-risk congregate settings to verify vaccination status and be subject to at least weekly, and in some instances twice weekly, diagnostic testing.
