Twenty five kids, ages 9 through 12, attended Summer Day Camp from July 19-23. The craft activities included canvas and pot painting, tie-dye and friendship bracelets. Other summer activities included water balloon toss, swimming, basketball, volleyball, relay races and other fun summer activities. Police Chief Gary Crowell gave the campers a brief session on safety, as well.

Parks and Recreation

Plans for summer include regular open gym hour, a summer camp at Man O' War Park, movie nights and a week-long day camp for kids ages 7-12 where the Police Department will also come out for safety and activities.

Trail Days are set for the first Saturday of each month. The Conservation Corps have been assisting with trail work.

The pool is having a successful season. The lifeguards are working hard to keep things running smooth.

National Night out is scheduled for Aug. 3.

Oktoberfest

The 16th annual Oktoberfest is back and scheduled for Oct. 2 at the Community Center from noon to 5 p.m. Come by for food, beer, wine, gifts and kids activities. No pets are allowed except trained service animals.

Police reports

Police Chief Gary Crowell filed a report of statistics for June 2021. The department had 16 arrests, issued 13 citations, had 108 reports, 96 calls for service, completed 32 officer initiated investigations, 29 field interviews and three medical assists. There were also two vehicles impounded, seven vacation house checks and the department assisted other law enforcement agencies 15 times.

Staff report

Staff has been marking our water mains and hydrants for hundreds of USA dig alerts due to Edison replacing power poles.

Water demand is averaging 375 gallons per minute (GPM) and peaking at 450 GPM. We are keeping up with demand but are encouraging residents we are water conscious.

Easement and lot mowing has been completed.

Stallion Springs Board of Directors

The Board meets on the third Tuesday of every month at 6 p.m. normally in the CSD board room. The next meeting will be held Aug. 17 at 6 p.m. in the CSD board room.
