The Friends of the Tehachapi Library is having a Clearance Book Sale on Thursday, Aug. 5 from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

This sale is going to have some of our antique, coffee table and audio books for half price. In addition, there will be mixed fiction and nonfiction books for just 25¢.

There are also several screenplays that will be for sale. These include scripts for movies like: "Juno," "Hurt Locker," "Her," "The Butler" and "Black Swan," among several others movies. These are also going to sell for just 25¢. So anyone with an interest in screenwriting should try to pick up some of these scripts as examples of good screenwriting.

There are also copies of some literary anthologies with the works of local author David Scott Milton. With short stories in Southern Anthology and Pearl River Review. And a play in Women with Guns.

Since this is a clearance sale, starting at 4 p.m. virtually everything goes into one of our famous bag sales. For $3 we provide you with a bag that you can then fill up with books. In addition to the general fiction and nonfiction, this will include some of the antique, coffee table and audio books. (Not all of these books are included in the bag sale, but many will be.) The bag sale will last until the sale ends at 5:30 p.m. This overlaps the Farmer's Market, so make sure to come for both.

The Friends of the Library has started to take book donations again. We know that many of you have been holding on to your books just waiting until you could donate them to the Friends of the Library once again. That time has come. When the Library is open (Wednesday, Thursday and Friday from noon to 6 p.m.) you're welcome to bring in two boxes or bags of books per day. The library is located at 212 S. Green Street, Tehachapi.

The Friends of the Library volunteers will be working before the library opens Wednesday through Friday. If you'd like to join in and volunteer to help, contact the Friends of the Library at FOLTehachapi@gmail.com or (661) 750-2818. If you can't do that, help support our Library by coming in and buying books at the Continuing Book Sale downstairs or come to the Pop Up Clearance Sale on Aug. 5.
