The Sew-tastic class and Rotary show off their June projects.

Several ladies of the Tehachapi Rotary Club and some of their friends have come together once a month to teach sewing techniques to anyone who is interested in learning to sew.

The class is for beginners or anyone who wants to brush up their sewing skills, whether they are women or men, or are age 9 or 90.

A different project is taught every month. Their project for June was an artistic American flag. In July they will be making fabric wallets. Students only need to have a sewing machine with an operations manual that they can bring to class. Everything for the project is supplied. At the end of each class, instructions are given for the following month's project. According to organizer Cathy Criger, they currently have as many as 18 students each month and almost as many helpers, so there is plenty of personal attention. The group has decided to call themselves "Sew-tastic."

The class is given on the second Thursday of the month from 4 to 7:30 p.m. in the chapel at Country Oaks Baptist Church located at 20915 Shout Rd., Tehachapi. Anyone who thinks they might be interested in the class should call Cathy Criger at (661) 972-1739.
