In line to drop off trash.

Clean Up Day on May 1 was a great success.

Traffic was lined up across the field, down Hialeah Drive and onto Stallion Springs Drive as far as the front of the Community Center by 9 a.m. when the drop off opened. Residents that had big bulky items to dispose of brought them to the Stallion Springs Community Center parking lot for easy disposal, until the bins were full. The disposal bins were located on the west side of the Community Center. Items not accepted included, household hazardous waste, construction waste, asphalt, concrete, tires, alkaline batteries, fluorescent tubes or light bulbs.

Man O' War Park

On May 23 at 2 p.m. the Stallion Springs Property Owners Association will inaugurate the new baseball field at Man O' War Park. A fun, relaxing game of softball will be held to inaugurate the new field. The SSPOA will be offering food and drinks. The event is free.

The POA will present the new bleachers that we've fundraised for, as well. Come on down for this community gathering to meet your neighbors or hang with your friends and family. Get to know what we do in our nonprofit organization and enjoy a beautiful small town gathering. Please bring your baseball or softball gear to share. Bring your friends or family. Please note, by coming to this event you are aware of the possibility of exposure to COVID-19 and to possible injuries playing softball. Take your own risks/liability. Can't wait for some good neighborly fun.

Parks and Recreation

A 5K Color Run is being planned for May 22. Cost is $15 per person. Come dressed in all white and leave with a very colorful look.

Yoga has begun on Tuesdays and Thursdays at the Community Center with Sonya Cook as the instructor.

We are looking into RecDesk, an online website for parks programs and sign ups to make parks more easily accessible to the community.

A Craft Day is scheduled for adults on Tuesday, May 20 at 6 p.m. A day for kids is set for May 19 at 5 p.m. For more information contact the CSD, (661) 822-3268.

Trail Days are set for the first Saturday of each month. Follow us on Facebook and contact Shawnee anytime with your ideas or thoughts at stallionparksandrec@gmail.com.

Stallion Springs Board of Directors

The Board meets on the third Tuesday of every month at 6 p.m. normally in the CSD boardroom. The next meeting will be held May 18 at 6 p.m. in the CSD boardroom at the Community Center or via Zoom, subject to the restrictions created by COVID-19.
