At their April 12 meeting, the Tehachapi Planning Commission gave a new approval for a Hampton Inn to be constructed in Capital Hills on the north side of Hwy. 58.

Original approval for the 85 room hotel was given in 2015 to the projects prior owner. New owner Trophy Hospitality of Las Vegas was represented at the meeting by Bakersfield architect Steven Kieke.

The new Hampton Inn will be located on the northwest corner of Capital Hills Parkway and Challenger Drive. The three story hotel will include a gym, indoor pool and spa, breakfast space for guests only, a business center and a small meeting room.

Since the initial approval, the City has adopted a new set of Architectural Design Guidelines stating that new construction should reflect Tehachapi's mountain town character. As a result, new drawings were submitted using a darker color palette of earth tones and adding stone and timber elements.

The Hampton Inn will be joining the soon-to-be-completed Marriott TownePlace Suites, making it the third hotel located on the north side of Hwy 58 and convenient to the new Adventist Health Tehachapi Valley hospital. A timeline for completion was not given.
